Overnight Oats with Strawberry Jam (Printable)

Creamy oats combined with sweet strawberry chia jam for a healthy, energizing start to the day.

# What You Need:

→ Overnight Oats

01 - 1 cup rolled oats, gluten-free if needed
02 - 1 cup milk of choice, dairy or plant-based
03 - 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt or dairy-free yogurt
04 - 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
05 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
06 - Pinch of salt

→ Strawberry Chia Jam

07 - 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries, hulled and chopped
08 - 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
09 - 1 tablespoon chia seeds
10 - 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice, optional

→ Topping

11 - Sliced fresh strawberries
12 - Chopped nuts or seeds, optional

# How To Make It:

01 - Combine strawberries and maple syrup in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until strawberries soften and begin to break down, approximately 5 to 7 minutes. Mash with a fork or potato masher to desired consistency. Stir in chia seeds and lemon juice if using. Remove from heat and allow to cool; the mixture will thicken as it cools.
02 - In a mixing bowl or jar, combine oats, milk, yogurt, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Mix well until fully incorporated. Divide oat mixture evenly between two jars or bowls. Top each portion with 2 to 3 tablespoons of cooled strawberry chia jam. Cover and refrigerate overnight or for at least 4 hours.
03 - In the morning, stir gently if desired to reach preferred consistency. Top each serving with fresh strawberries and nuts or seeds before serving.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • It's genuinely five minutes of actual work the night before, then your breakfast is done.
  • The strawberry chia jam has a natural sweetness that feels indulgent without the heavy feeling.
  • You can make a batch for several mornings and still feel like you're eating something fresh.
02 -
  • If you don't let the chia jam cool before adding it to the oats, it can make everything too warm and break the overnight-setting process.
  • The texture that emerges overnight is completely different from eating oats hot off the stove—creamier, almost pudding-like, which is the whole point here.
03 -
  • Cook your strawberry jam the night before alongside your oat prep, so both are cool and ready to layer by the time you're putting things together.
  • A tiny squeeze of lemon juice in the jam transforms the strawberry flavor in a way that tastes subtle but feels somehow more sophisticated than you'd expect.
